Ian Shaw
Producer and Engineer

Ian Shaw

I started recording and producing records a long time ago in the attic of my Grandmother house in South London on a tempermental 4 track tape recorder.  My Gran used to make the tea and answer the phone which was very confusing for prospective clients! Then I spent 17 years running a 16 and then 24 track recording studio in Fulham, where I recorded everything from Reggae through Pop, Punk, Jazz, World Music to Metal and back again!

Fast forward a few more years and I've been lucky enough to work with some incredibly talented people including: Primal Scream, Mark Owen, Super Furry Animals, Nick Heyward, Kevin Rowland, Shriekback, Julian Cope, Heavenly, Linus, Huggy Bear, Yat-Kha, Proud Mary, Edward Ball, Agnes, Comet Gain, Snuff, Glen Matlock, and many many others.

Along the way, I've learnt to play a number of instruments very badly, had some chart success, set up this internet label and I've also been involved in recording ads, film music, playing in bands and I am the 'silent' 4th member of Virginia and co-write their songs with them.

I now have a really great little inexpensive recording set up in Central London, with natural light, air conditioning and fantastic Italian coffee, based around a ProTools TDM rig and a lovingly preserved collection of classic mic amps, valve thingy's, old microphones, analogue summing and tape mastering and some nice guitars. Recently I've been working on albums with: The Would Be Goods, Matt Backer, Friends Of The Bride, Nikki Murray, Kelly's Heels, Karen Bishko, Madeleine and Mayja from Ghana and I'm currently recording tracks with some great new talented artists/singer songwriters.

If you want to get in touch with me about recording you or your band/project, or want someone to mix/fix your home/studio recordings or even record you live at a gig you can . You can also hear some more of my work at http://www.myspace.com/ianshawproducer.
